Bärí A. Williams
Bärí A. Williams is COO of Bandwagon Fan Club, a startup advisor in the tech industry, and published author in the New York Times, WIRED, Fortune, and Fast Company. She is the former Head of Business Operations Management for North America at StubHub, where she was responsible for business planning and operations to manage and oversee technical internal and external metrics, product innovation, and partnerships and drive P&L results across the company. She also serves as an advisor to startups in the enterprise and e-commerce space.
Prior to StubHub, Bärí was a senior commercial attorney at Facebook supporting internet.org connectivity efforts, building drones, satellites, and lasers, and supporting the company's supply chain. She also successfully took on the passion project of creating and implementing Facebook’s Supplier Diversity Program, launched in October 2016 and served on the company’s Black Employee Resource Group leadership team.
Bärí is a thought leader and passionate advocate for diversity in tech. In February of 2020, she testified before Congress on bias in AI—specifically in fintech—and its impact on home lending, school loans, and interest rates when they are based on biased data sets and a lack of fact checking. Her work has been covered by national media outlets including CNBC, Fortune, Wired, Essence, Washington Post, The Root, and more. A sought-after speaker, Bari has appeared at conferences such as SXSW, CES, Fortune Magazine Summits, and Essence Festival, and regularly speaks at companies such as Google, Accenture, and more. She is the author of Diversity in the Workplace: Eye-Opening Interviews to Jumpstart Conversations about Identity, Privilege, and Bias (Rockridge Press, 2020).
Bärí is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (BA, Mass Communications), St. Mary’s College of California (MBA), the University of California, Los Angeles (MA, African-American Studies), and the University of California, Hastings College of Law (JD). She lives in Oakland, CA, with her husband and two children.
